Schools

Table Tennis Queensland are dedicated to working with schools across the state to provide fair and equitible access to table tennis, as well as increasing participation.

TTQ is excited to offer FREE in-school introduction sessions. The session is designed to be delivered during a lunch break for small groups (up to 20 students), by a TTQ provided and accredited coach, and will be free of charge for the school (minimum numbers apply). All required equipment (excluding tables) and a coach will be supplied and funded by TTQ.

These sessions are the perfect opportunity for schools to gauge interest in table tennis amongst their students, at no cost to the school or student.

During the session students will be taught the basics of table tennis, including serving, hitting and returning. They will also gain sparring experience with short games played against each other. While the sessions teach the basics of the sport, there is a focus on creating a fun and supportive environment for the students.

TTQ is also focused on supporting the participation of women and girls in the sport and encourage schools’ promotion of female students’ involvement in these sessions. To assist with this, TTQ will provide a female coach where possible to further encourage the participation of women and girls.

Table Tennis Queensland are excited to officially support the rebranding of Table Tennis Australia's national grassroots program from Spinneroos to Ping. Pong. Play., a refreshed initiative designed to make table tennis more accessible and engaging to children across Australia.

To continue the growth of table tennis and the competition in 2026, Table Tennis Queensland is proud to be a provider of Table Tennis Australia’s refreshed and curriculum aligned program, Ping.Pong.Play (PPP).

PPP is aligned to the Australian Curriculum and perfect for both primary and secondary school students. It is designed to get students active, engaged, and having fun while learning the basics of table tennis.

What is Ping. Pong. Play.?

Ping. Pong. Play. is an inclusive program aimed at introducing new players to the sport. It offers a fun, and social environment for students of all ages and skill levels to enjoy table tennis in a relaxed setting.

The program is flexible and can be run during PE lessons, lunchtimes, or after-school programs. Funded by TTQ,  a coach can also come to your school and deliver a free ‘teaser session’ to give students and teachers a taste of what the program offers.

Teachers also have the option to run the program themselves using the fun and engaging coaching model, or it can be delivered by an accredited coach — ready to support your students with an inclusive and exciting experience.

Why your school will love Ping.Pong.Play:

  • Aligned to the Australian Curriculum (Primary & Secondary)
  • Fun, active, and fully inclusive for all students
  • Delivered by a qualified Table Tennis Australia coach (or by your teachers with support materials)
  • Access to lesson plans, training modules, and equipment

There are two ways to get involved with PPP:

  • Through Sporting Schools: Schools can apply for a grant via the Sporting Schools website. If successful, the grant provides funding to access Ping.Pong.Play resources, purchase equipment, and/or cover the cost of a qualified coach to deliver the program.
  • By contacting Table Tennis Australia directly: Schools can still access the same program resources, training models, and equipment, but without grant funding the school would cover 100% of the costs themselves.
