Schools may enter more that 1 team in each event/division, however TTQ reserves the right to cap the number of entries from an individual school, subject to entries received. 

Invitation to State Finals

Medal winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in each division at each regional events will be invited to compete at the State Final.

Please notify Table Tennis Queensland if any players are unable to compete at the State Final prior to their regional event.

In the event of an invited team being unable to attend the State Final, the next highest ranking team will be invited in their place.

The venue offers the following facilities and services for event participants, families and supporters:

Canteen

A full canteen service will be available on the day of the event, including a variety of food and drinks. The canteen area is fully air-conditioned and offers tables and seating for event attendees. 

Parking

The venue offers plenty off-street FREE parking adjacent to the main enterance. 

Spectator Seating

The playing area offers ample permanent seating during the event however it is recommended to bring a cushion as the seating is wooden.

Bathroom & Shower Facilities

The venue offers male, female and disabled bathroom facilities adjacent to the main playing area.

Prizes

The Top 3 finishers in Division 1 of each category will win a voucher to be redeemed by their school for table tennis equipment or coaching. See below for voucher amounts: 

1st place - $200

2nd place - $150

3rd place - $100

The Top 3 finishers in each division will be awarded with medals. 

  • A team will consist of minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 3 (single gender unless a division includes mixed)
  • Students competing must be from the same school
  • Schools may enter more than 1 team in each event/division however TTQ reserves the right to cap the number of entries from an individual school, subject total entries received
  • Age limits are restricted. Students must be enrolled in their nominated grade. Students may play in a higher age divsion if required to make a team 

Athletes can compete in the following division as per their school year level. 

Open Division (Male, Female or Mixed) - Year 10 - 12

Junior Division (Male, Female or Mixed) - Year 7 - 9

Hopes Division (Male, Female or Mixed) - Prep - Year 6 

 

$48.00 per team (incl. GST) for all events (additional $48.00 per team for State Final)

  • Each school group should be accompanied by a responsible adult acting as manager/coach 
  • The nominated adult is responsible for marking the attendance of all players and signing them in at the registration desk 
  • The nominated adult is responsible for alerting the tournament manager to any team changes on the day such as players running late or unable to attend
  • Parents and guardians are welcome to spectate however we request that only the nominated adult sign in the teams at the registration desk to avoid miscommunication 
  • We ask that schools with more than 3 teams gather outside the venue to mark attendance before signing in all students together at the registration desk

Match Format

  • All singles and doubles matches are 3 games played to 11 points (winning margin of 1 point only)
  • All teams will play 4 singles matches and 1 doubles match (3 games per match)
  • The winning team in each match must win by a margin of 2-1 or 3-0
  • Teams of 3 must select which players to play or rest each round for singles or doubles

Table Tennis Queensland reserves the right to modify match format, subject to number of teams and time restrictions.

Example:

Singles 1: Player A vs Player 1 (best of 3 games)

Singles 2: Player B vs Player 2 (best of 3 games)

Doubles (best of three games)

Singles 3: Player A vs Player 2 (best of 3 games)

Singles 4: Player B vs Player 1 (best of 3 games)

Order of Play

Each age category will play a Group Stage, with teams divided into groups of 3 or 4 teams and playing in a round robin format. 

Teams will then be divided into divisions based on their results in the Group Stage, with the top placer in each group moving to Division 1, the second to Divison 2 and the thrid to Division 3. 

Each division will then move into the Knockout Stage. Once a team has been knocked out, they will play at least 1 play off match to determine their final placing.

Regional Qualifiers

At the regional qualifiers,the Top 3 finishers in each division for each age group will be invited to the State Finals in Moreton Bay on Monday 14th September 2026.

Each player in the Top 3 across all divisions and age groups will receive a medal. 

All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

State Final

We ask that all players are wearing their school/sports uniform for the school they are representing at the event.

Due to the non air-conditioned environment of the QLD Open, the Tournament Director, in liason with the Tournament Referee, reserves the right to postpone or reschedule the event if the forcast temperature for the day 2 hours prior to commencement of the day's activity is advertised to be 34 degrees celcius or higher. 

Where the forecast temperature is 36 degrees celcius or higher 2 hours prior to the commencement of the event, the Tournament Director reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the event.

The Tournament Director shall have a level of discretion based on the temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors when determining and implementing this requirement.

TTQ has all rights over the photography of participants, coaches and spectators as per the tournamnet conditions. Anyone wishing to take photos or video inside the event playing and spectator area must contact TTQ to apply for accreditation.
