Published Tue 17 Mar 2026
On behalf of Toowoomba Table Tennis Association, TTQ is saddened to share the news of the passing of long-time player and life member Andrea Strack.
Andrea was an amazing player & member of the Toowoomba Table Tennis Association for many decades from the 1960’s through to 2012. Andrea represented Qld. at State & National events, particularly National Veterans Championships, where she achieved multiple Top10 State rankings.
The honour boards at the Toowoomba clubhouse record that Andrea won no less than 11 Toowoomba TTA Women’s Open championship titles, her first in 1971 & her last in 2005, many of them back-to-back over several years. Always sharing this title with her main rival, Jill Whisson, their 2 names appear on the Championship board every year between 1974 & 2010 (with the exception of 2). Incredible – almost Roger Federer-esc.
Andrea served on the Toowoomba TTA Committee in the role of Secretary 12 times (years) between 1976 & 1991, & was also an accomplished umpire at many events.
Because of her commitment to the sport of table tennis both in Toowoomba & Qld. & as a Qld. State representative, Andrea was awarded Life Membership of the Toowoomba TTA in 1983. Andrea’s life membership board is positioned on the wall on Court#2 at the clubhouse. Forever remembered & forever in the minds of our older Veteran players.
Andrea has been one of Toowoomba’s greatest players, leaving a 50 year legacy. May she never be forgotten. Andrea, you have played the game well. Well done. Rest in Peace Andrea Strack. Toowoomba & Qld. Table Tennis legend.
