A delegation of 22 players from Tonga Table Tennis Federation will travel to Moreton Bay this November to compete in the 2026 Queensland Open Championships.

The team will contest junior, open and para events, with players entered across age groups from Under 11 through to Open competition.

Held at South Pine Indoor Sports Centre from 27–29 November, the championships will provide Tonga’s players with opportunities to test themselves against new opponents, gain tournament experience and build connections within the table tennis community.

Tonga Table Tennis Federation Operations Manager Arne Falekaono Jensen said the team was looking forward to the visit.

“Our team is incredibly excited to compete at the Queensland Open. We have heard so many wonderful things about this event, particularly the high standard of competition, the welcoming atmosphere, and the incredible experience it offers players.”

Jensen said the benefits would extend beyond the tournament itself.

“We look forward to challenging ourselves, building new friendships, and bringing home valuable lessons and inspiration to help develop table tennis in Tonga.”

Table Tennis Queensland CEO Brady Walmsley said the delegation would add to the experience for everyone competing.

“Bringing 22 players to Queensland is a significant commitment, and we’re pleased Tonga has chosen the Queensland Open as an opportunity to develop its players,” Walmsley said.

“Our players also benefit from facing different opponents and styles of play. This visit will strengthen connections between our table tennis communities and create opportunities we can build on together.”

TTQ looks forward to welcoming Team Tonga and supporting a rewarding visit for the entire delegation.
