QLD Club Grant Success

Published Mon 02 Feb 2026

TTQ is excited to celebrate the recent success of both Mackay Table Tennis Association and Rockhampton Table Tennis Association in being awarded grants through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Rockhampton Table Tennis Association

The Rockhampton Table Tennis Association are celebrating having been awarded an $85,000 grant towards the replacement of roofing, guttering and down-piping above the clubs playing area, in addition to the local Council providing a new entry pathway that will incorporate a spoon-drain with the view to lessening the impacts of rain water to their building.

Club President, Allan Clarke, attributed the grant success "to a lot of work by a few volunteers before, during and after the application process." A local contractor has been engaged with the works scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.

Mackay Table Tennis is also celebrating a major milestone, with the Club being awarded a $100,000 grant. This significant investment will kick‑start long‑awaited facility upgrades, beginning with the replacement of the Eastern wall and essential work to resolve ongoing drainage issues beneath the hall.

Following David O’Leary’s presentation at the 2025 TTQ AGM, the club reached out to David for guidance. “Our successful application can only be accredited to his knowledge and expertise, and his support proved invaluable. His professional approach, attention to detail, and clear understanding of both our facility needs and the grant requirements ensured our submission was strong and compliant. With the volume of applications the Selection Committee received to review, David’s expertise undoubtedly strengthened our chances of success,” said Club President, Janice Kent.

The exciting news of their approval was delivered by the newly appointed Club Patron, Nigel Dalton, State Member for Mackay, who received the official list of successful recipients.

This grant, combined with the recent installation of air conditioning in the hall, marks a turning point in the transformation of the Mackay Club. The improvements are already lifting the energy and enthusiasm of members, and reinforce what they have always aimed for—making table tennis in Mackay an enjoyable, accessible, and comfortable sport all year round.

Congratulations to both clubs on their success and we look forward to seeing members benefit from the completed projects!
