Grassroots Success: Free Table Tennis Sessions Welcome New Players

Published Fri 03 Oct 2025

Table Tennis Queensland (TTQ) is celebrating the success of its recent series of free community 'Come & Try' days, which have successfully introduced the sport to new enthusiasts across the state. The sessions, held in Moreton Bay, Mackay, and on the Gold Coast, saw record attendance, proving that the love for table tennis is thriving in Queensland.

The initiative is designed to break down barriers to participation by offering free access to equipment and nationally accredited coaches for people of all ages and skill levels across 3-hour sessions.

Mackay Table Tennis Association and Gold Coast Table Tennis Association recently hosted sessions that saw courts fully booked, with local families, students, and seniors all taking to the tables.

Sessions hosted at the Queesland's Table Tennis Centre of Excellence in July (South Pine Indoor Sports Centre in Moreton Bay), reached capacity and saw over 70 beginners of all ages start their table tennis journey.

Table Tennis Queensland is committed to continuing the roll-out of these successful community-focused events, reinforcing its dedication to growing the sport from the grassroots up across the entire state.
