QLD Open Attracts Top Players!

TTQ is excited to announce some BIG NAMES 🔥🔥🔥 are now confirmed for the 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ Queensland Open to be held on 1-2 June at Moreton Bay Table Tennis Association Inc.

DILLON CHAMBERS (VICTORIA)

Dillon is a current member of the 2024 National squad and 2024 captain of the Victorian men’s team. Dillon has represented Australia at the Commonwealth games in 2022, and spent 3 years training & competing in the german league. Dillon has featured strongly at National level with a doubles gold medal and a silver & bronze in the open men’s. Dillon has a current world ranking inside the top 200.

HAYDEN GREEN (QLD - South East Qld Table Tennis Club )

Hayden is one of the “form players” this year as the defending QLD Men’s Open singles champion from 2023, and narrowly lost a marathon 7 set match in the gold medal game at the recent 2024 QLD Seniors Championship held in April. Hayden, while still only 22 years old, is an experienced and very popular player on the QLD circuit and will enjoy plenty of local support at the QLD Open in Moreton Bay.

YUDONG SHI (QLD - Star Table Tennis )

Yudong is an experienced QLD player and was selected in the QLD Open Men’s A team to represent QLD at the National Championships in July. Yudong is in good form after winning 3 gold medals at the QLD Senior Championships taking out the Men's Teams title, Men’s Doubles title (with Jacob Jingyu Huang) and the Mixed Doubles title (with Yvonne Jing Yang). Yudong is also a national squad coach and was recognised with the 2023 QLD club Coach of the Year award.

DANNI-ELLE TOWNSEND (QLD - GOLD COAST TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION )

Danni-Elle is a 2024 National squad member & was voted QLD Senior Female Player of the Year in 2023. Danni-Elle picked up a swag of medals at the recent QLD Senior Championships taking gold in the Women’s Teams' event for Gold Coast (with Amy Jang) with a 100% winning record, won the QLD U21 Women’s Singles title, the QLD Women’s Doubles title (with Amy Jang) and picked up a silver in the QLD Women’s Singles after a titanic match against eventual winner Yvonne Jing Yang.

YVONNE JING-YANG (QLD - Star Table Tennis )

Yvonne is an experienced and highly skillful QLD player who made a big statement by defeating Danni-Elle Townsend for the title of QLD Women’s Singles Champion in a marathon 7 set match. Yvonne also picked up gold in the QLD Mixed doubles title (with Yudong Shi) at the QLD Senior Championships. All eyes will be on Yvonne and Danni-Elle to see if there is a re-match of that epic gold medal match for the Women’s Singles title at the QLD Open in June.

STANLEY CHAM - Star Table Tennis

Stanley won the Under-17 Boys Singles & U-17 Boys Teams title for the Star Club (with Eric Chen) at the recent QLD Junior Championships held in April, with a 100% winning record in all 14 teams matches played. Stanley was rewarded with selection in the QLD U17 Boys A team to compete at Nationals in July!

Stanley was also recognised as the outstanding male junior player on and off the court at the QLD Juniors by recieving the coveted Presidents Shield for Junior Boys.

ASHISH ANTONY - Brisbane Table Tennis

Ashish won the Under-15 Boys Singles title at the recent QLD Junior Championships held in April, and was selected in the QLD U15 Boys A team to compete at Nationals in July!

Ashish also won the U-15 Boys Teams title for the Brisbane Club (with Lucas Green) with a 80% winning record in his group matches played. Ashish and Lucas Green teamed up again to take out the Under-15 Boys Doubles title. at the 2024 QLD Juniors.

ELLA YU - Star Table Tennis

Ella was one of the stand-out junior girls at the recent QLD Juniors, picking up a swag of medals including gold in the U17-19 Girls Teams event for Star (with Tiffany Lam), gold in the U15 Girls Singles, U15 & U17 Mixed Doubles (with Jacob Huang), U15 Girls Doubles (with Eujin Hong) & U17 Girls Doubles (with Tiffany Lam).

After a dominant performance at the QLD Juniors, Ella was rewarded with selection in the QLD U17 Girls A team to compete at the National Championships in July.

LIN ZHU - South East Qld Table Tennis Club

Lin was another of the stand-out junior girls at the recent QLD Juniors, picking up a swag of medals including gold in the U11 and U13 Girls Singles, U11 Girls Doubles (with Angela Yuan) and taking out the U13 Girls Teams event for SEQ (with Angela Yuan) with an 86% winning record. After a dominant performance at the QLD Juniors, Zhu was rewarded with selection in the QLD U11 Girls A team to compete at the National Championships in July.

Lin was also recognised as the outstanding female junior player on and off the court by recieving the coveted Presidents Shield for Junior Girls.
